REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK
Who Are We Together?
Ephesians 4: 1-7, 11-16
Today we heard about the “Ministry of All Christians” and how we are ALL called and commissioned into Jesus Christ’s ministry of “outreaching love”. This work is done through the mission of the Church the body of Christ. We are each part of Christ’s body in the world, nurtured, equipped, and sent through the church. How do you understand your role in the Body of Christ? What steps do you need to take in order to fully participate in the ministry of Jesus Christ?
Action: There are many ways that we can help to support the congregation and its ministries. This week, pray each day for New Philadelphia First UMC, its staff, pastor, lay leaders, and ministries. Consider dropping a note or email to someone in the congregation who could use a word of encouragement.
Prayer: You have made us one body and one spirit. You have called us to one hope through one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. The difference in our cultures, our backgrounds, our gifts and talents, our personalities, and our experiences should only enrich us, not divide us. We need each other in order to live strong for You. Help us make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit that You have given us— to treasure it, to preserve it, to protect it, and promote it. Teach me to love and respect and appreciate all of my brothers and sisters in Christ and live with them in peace. Amen.
