The idea for the Creative Fish Preschool came about because of a strong need in our community for another program that offers a place for children who are age eligible for kindergarten but who are just not quite ready either socially or academically. The program is centrally located in down town New Philadelphia. The center has hired quality trained staff that understand the development of children, and are up to date with current educational methods. Our hope is that many children and families will pass through the doors and grow as Disciples of Christ for many years to come.
The mission of First United Methodist Church is “making and maturing disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” As a ministry of the church the Creative Fish Preschool shares that mission. In addition, we strive to foster a love of learning, an excitement about using one’s creativity, and development of Christian virtues. We will offer hands-on activities throughout the year to help identify and promote virtues such as: caring, respect, kindness, gratitude and hope. We strive to meet the needs of each child using developmentally appropriate practices and valuing every style of learning.
